what and why?

What is a UPS?

Often overlooked, Uninterruptible Power Supplies are an integral part of your business infrastructure, often being the last line of defence against power fluctuations. Not only do they provide a battery backup in the event of complete power loss, they also create a smooth power flow for your important hardware when power spikes or brown-outs occur.

Why a UPS?

UPS systems today are intelligent enough to alert servers that there is a short supply of power and in the event the power is out for more than a specified amount of time start shutting the servers down safely, saving business data and making sure you can be up and running again in the quickest time.

Which is best for me?

UPS come in lots of different shapes and sizes, and we can help with choosing the best solution for your hardware. Whether or not you need a complete, generator backed, solution or a small UPS to protect a wiring rack we can advise and supply you.

Trade-Ups

With laws in place to ensure the safe disposal of batteries it can be costly to dispose of your old unit. When purchasing an APC UPS from BONITAS you will be given the option of trading in your old UPS against a new model, this could be just disposal of your old unit or it could even take money off your new one. It's easy to protect your computer against almost every kind of power related problem, all you need is an Uninterriptible Power Supply or UPS for short.

A UPS will provide you with the following protection for your systems:

A UPS has it's own rechargeable battery which provides emergency power for your system the immediate the mains supply is cut, thereby preventing data loss.

In the event of a sustained power failure, the UPS will provide sufficient battery power for your files to be saved and for the whole system to be shut down in an orderly manner.

If an alternative power source such as a generator is available, the battery will provide sufficient power to keep your system running until the secondary supply is brought online.

Plus protection from surges, spikes, RFI, and so on...

UPSs also filter the power supply entering your computer system, limiting the detrimental effect of "spikes", "noise" and other electrical disturbances. UPSs that incorporate galvanic isolation provide complete protection against these types of mains borne problems.
